The Milestones Project was awarded Fellow of the 2007 Purpose Prize. This award is given to people over 60 who are taking on society’s biggest challenges. It is awarded to those with the passion and creativity to discover new opportunities, the experience to come up with practical solutions, and the determination to make lasting change. For a complete list of recipients see this site: 2007 Purpose Prize Fellows

The 2007 Make A Difference Award was given to the Milestones Project on February 7, 2007, during the season for nonviolence, which is 64 days beginning on January 30 and continuing through April 4 when communities around the world are encouraged to practice principles of non-violence. The Milestones Project received the 2003 Global Peace and Tolerance Award by the Friends of the United Nations. This award is part of the Friends of the United Nations’ call upon governments, non-governmental organizations and people everywhere to undertake initiatives that will advance the cause of tolerance so we can live together with one another in peace as good neighbors. The award recognizes The Milestones Project and fortifies the vision of the United Nations Decade for the Culture of Peace and Non-violence for the Children of the World. It also serves as support and reinforces the Friends of the United Nations Global Campaign to promote a culture of peace and tolerance through art.

It’s wonderful being the recipient of all these awards. It’s also an honor for us to give an award. The Milestones Project will be bestowing the first ever ‘International Peace Prize for Children,’ a Nobel-Prize level award recognizing, stimulating and celebrating extraordinary achievement by children under 18 who promote inclusiveness and acceptance of others in their region of the world.
